After the montage ended, a live feed of my actual wedding began.
We were at the restored Prince’s Mansion in LA, having a traditional Chinese wedding. The mansion was draped in red silk; the sounds of suona (a traditional Chinese wind instrument) and festive music filled the air.
Watched by everyone, I, in a beautiful traditional wedding gown, rode a palanquin, led by a horse–drawn carriage.
The procession, accompanied by gongs and drums, scattered gold coins and sweets. People scrambled to collect them, offering blessings.
Guests at the main venue received gold ingots and sweets as well.
The extravagance was breathtaking.
Ethan and Mason witnessed the procession on screen, stopping at the mansion gates. Zoe Jackson dismounted gracefully, lifting
lifting me from the palanquin and carrying me steadily towards the
the mansion.
Ethan’s lip was bleeding; his eyes were bloodshot with rage.
*Thump!*
Mason slammed his fist on the table, grabbing his jacket and rushing out, leaving Ethan behind, speeding towards the mansion in his sports car.
He had to see me.
If he couldn’t stop the
marriage
certificate, maybe he could still stop the wedding.
He drove recklessly, failing to notice a car speeding towards him.
*Crash!* Mason’s car was severely damaged; his leg was trapped and broken.
He felt no sensation in his leg!
Warm blood flowed down his face.
For a moment, he thought he was dying.
He instinctively called me.
He’d forgotten his number was blocked.
Unsurprisingly, the call failed.
Ethan followed, unable to stop Mason’s reckless pursuit.
Though equally consumed by jealousy, he remained outwardly calm.
It was just a wedding; divorces existed.
There were countless ways to separate me from Zoe Jackson!
Their years of friendship couldn’t be erased, and that in itself could create suspicion and doubts in Zoe Jackson’s
mind!
He repeated this to himself, but it offered little comfort.
On his way to the mansion, he witnessed Mason’s accident.
He chose to abandon his plan to disrupt the wedding.
Mason’s life mattered more.
They were friends; he couldn’t abandon him.
Ethan rushed Mason to the hospital; by the time Mrs. Mason arrived, my wedding was
over.

Within a day, Ethan looked haggard and worn.
Mason’s life was saved, but his leg required
surgery, and its future was
Menu
uncertain.
He’d promised Qiana he’d stop riding motorcycles; fate had fulfilled that promise in a brutal way.
Whether he recovered or not, his racing days were over.
