The audience might have admiration or disgust, but it was my new life.
Gerard was stunned. He had seen me shone when I was dancing before, but he had never seen such an expression on my face.
With waist–length hair, long legs and a slender waist, my dancing was graceful yet powerful, like a branch of winter plum blossom blooming brightly in the cold winter. My dancing posture almost took away my breath.
After the dance ended, the theater was silent for a long time before warm applause broke out.
I was in tears as I was finally back on the stage.
Just as I finished my curtain call, Gerard rushed onto the stage and reached out to grab me.
I frowned and a bodyguard immediately came over and separated me from him.
Gerard had lost a lot of weight now, but his eyes were bright and he was still wearing the suit we got married in.
“Nichole, I’m here to take you home!”
“I know I was wrong. Let’s start over, okay? Didn’t you say that if I built a pure gold stage, you would change your mind?”
“Wrong.” Matthew interrupted him. “I asked you to create it. I’m just giving you a chance to atone for your sins. You’ve hurt Nichole hard enough. If you want her to be well, just let her go.”
I did not say anything, obviously agreeing with my mentor.
Gerard’s expression darkened.
“But I love you so much, Nichole!”
I could not help but sneer. “Do you love me so much to the point you locked me up in a cage like a canary as not to achieve my future?”
“No, Mr. Palmer is not raising a canary. He’s a vampire, absorbing the talents of others to support his own childhood sweetheart.”

Gerard was trembling. He tried to stop me from talking, but he was powerless to stop me.

Gerard ignored the injuries on his face and lifted the carpet on the stage, revealing a stage surface made of pure gold.
He begged to me. “Nichole, my heart is as good as gold now, our love is stronger than gold, let’s go
home.”
I shook my head.
“I think myself is more precious, so Gerard, I will never look back to the past.”
