Chapter 84
Melissa
Second day on the trip and Nate still hasn’t come around.
The bedroom door was shut behind me and I stood there, looking around, knowing right away that this wasn’t my personal room, but what I’d be sharing with Andra.
I frowned at the thought. Being in the same room with a lady I hate would make me run mad.
The room had this intense, woodsy aroma that instantly had my heart racing. It did smell like Marcus‘ cologne and for a moment, I got confused.
Out of curiosity, I went over to what I assumed was the closet. I pulled open the double doors and saw Marcus‘ suits lined up.
Shit. Wrong room.
This was his room. Like, his personal room throughout our stay in the trip and the suite.
I looked around, there was an armoire across from the bed, and when I opened it I could see clothes lined up.
How the hell did he have this many clothes in just two days of being here?
Could he have gotten them because of the party?
Just as I was trying to figure out my thoughts and gather what was going through my mind, the door creaked open and I turned.
It was Marcus.
A frown fell on his face. “What are you doing here Melissa?”
The voice was from behind him. It was Andra.
A lump formed in my throat and I swallowed back looking at the both of them. “I— I uh, I think I missed my “Obviously,” Andra blurted. “But that’s okay, Mr. Hills here made the rooms here look alike.”
“I see,” I blurted and turned to look at Marcus but he wasn’t even looking at me.
room.”
“I’ll just find my way around,” I blurted and turned to leave. I expected Marcus to at least acknowledge me but he didn’t.
This was all his plan.
To make me uneasy on the trip, have no one to talk to not even Nate and whatever the, fuck he thinks he’s doing, is working. Frustrated at everything happening, I returned to the room and carefully looked at the number before pushing the door
open.
The clothes he wanted me to wear for the event was on the bed. I ran my hands along the soft, silky material.
My jaw clenched the moment I thought of Andra. She was in his room and he let her but he ignored me like I wasn’t even
there.
I pulled one of the dresses off the hanger and held it out to look at it. It was definitely costly, formfitting, and exquisitely
gorgeous.

It looked exactly like the gown I wore to the club with Nate.
“Could it be that-
No no.
I brushed the thoughts off before they could even form in my head.
Heels were on the floor, all lined up, all looking so expensive. I led the first one, the second one and then the third one before a smile formed on my lips. I knew that was it.
In a split second, I thought of her again. Andra.
Andra’s bitterness is disgusting. If she had a good reason for hating me then maybe I would understand and tolerate her but
there’s none.
She has just been petty, rude, and crazy from the first day. Her unexplainable hate just for self–gratification and cause she’s jealous that I may be her competition at Hillstate is beyond callousness.
Whatever was wrong with her needed to end with her. I ignored the remaining seventy reasons to hit her head against the wall and got ready for the event.
I had about forty minutes more and since Marcus wants to play this game of old and kill, then I’m game.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror and exhaled audibly. I didn’t want to be here so I made no effort to look extra good like the rest.
I, however, regret not taking this seriously but since Marcus sent some dresses over, I think that is settled too.
I got dressed in the bodycon slit and grabbed the makeup brush. I applied powder to my face. Very little but enough to give me a different look. I grabbed the lip liner and carefully lined my lower lips before taking the red matte lipstick and rubbing it on my lips.
“Uh uh,” I affirmed looking at how good it was turning out.
If there was anything I knew, it was that Marcus would never be able to resist my look. I took one last look at myself till I was greatly satisfied with the outcome.
I took a deep breath and walked out; to meet My boss and that bitch.
As expected, the hallway was nothing less than what I imagined it to be. What I however did not imagine was that Marcus would step up his game and be the most stared at in the room. Marcus is agonisingly handsome and he never misses to steal my breath away whenever he does this.
A lady approached, conveying a tray of ice–filled glasses of water and when she reached where I was, I quickly took a glass just to distract myself from looking at Marcus.
“Thanks,” I blurted and even though I showed appreciation, she ignored me. I have also learned to overlook certain things like this and just move on. Now, Marcus was just a few miles away and before I could say anything, Andra joined him.
“You have no idea how good you look.”
Of course, it’s just a compliment but you can tell how thirsty she is with the way her eyes kept darting to him. It was fucking irritating and even Marcus could feel it.
“Miss Kane.” His fingers jabbed me in the shoulder. “I was hoping we could talk about your opening speech.”
Opening speech? Good lord knows nothing prepared me for it and as my jaw dropped with shock, Andra closed the gap
between us.

“I’d do it, Mr. Hills!” She blabbed. “Melissa is obviously not ready and we don’t have much time left.” A smile formed on her face and she turned to me. “Right, Melissa?”
