Chapter 81
Melissa
My knees wobbled out of anxiousness and when Nate noticed, his fair eyebrows met in the middle. “Should I be bothered?”
My eyes darted back to him. Why the hell should he be bothered? There’s no reason to be. I shook my head in disapproval. “The Boss‘ policy ends at Hillstate.”
A smirk followed and I could tell he was feeling all goofy. “Do you still want some public display of affection or shall we get more drinks and head home?”
Now, the crazy thing is I already lost tab of Helena and I can’t say for sure that she saw me even though I wanted her to but seeing Marcus here was another issue.
I am trying to gather my thoughts around this man but nothing of it is working and I may just be fooling myself but it doesn’t end here. I saw how he looked before leaving the club.
I don’t know why he looked all pissed but a part of him wanted him more pissed so with phone clasped between my two hands, I extended my arms and posed for a selfie with Nate.
“I guess we’re still on PDA session then.”
He lowered his stance till his face was touching mine and his lips scrunched up like he was about to kiss my face. wore the biggest smile I could pull up in a club and took a picture.
“Picture perfect,” I smiled. “Thank you,s buddy.”
His eyebrows raised to his hairline. “That’s a very disgusting word.”
I didn’t raise my head to look at him but I could tell the look on his face. Nothing other than the usual scrunched–up nose with an eye rolling.
“Well—” I was still looking down at the phone in my hand. I needed to do something real quick and that was to upload the mushy lovey dovey picture Nate and I took.
I clicked on the app and was greeted by Google. I huffed and hovered a thumb over the search bar and typed his name.
Marcus Hills.
“What are you doing?” Nate asked wanting to look over my phone so I shoved it away, back into my purse.
“Nothing important,” I snapped. “I think I need a drink.”
“We’ve had so much to drink, Mels. I am tipsy.”
“Likewise but one more drink won’t kill.” I didn’t need any more of his permission to go over to the bar and give the barman a sign.
“Hi! I’ll have tequila please.” I looked around Hades, trying to see if Marcus was still there but he wasn’t. There’s been a lot of space between us lately and I can’t even explain why.
We still work together and I’m his secretary but it’s like the space becomes inevitable every day that passes by. He makes sure I already have his schedule on his desk before he comes in and his coffee. Sometimes he doesn’t request them and I see Andra always walking to him to give him an extra one she got from Starbucks.
I’d never understand her or any other girl’s obsession with Marcus. Sure, he’s all hot and sexy but I can’t even tolerate it. Or maybe I can and I am just beginning to feel jealous.

The shot of tequila was passed to me and in a split second, I finished it. I turned to Nate who was walking over to me and I waved at him.
“Over here!“,
I could literally feel myself fading into a labyrinth but none of that made me bothered. In a few minutes or hours, I’d be on my bed sleeping off the entire alcohol I consumed.
“Want some?”
“No,” he responded sternly. “Someone has to drive us back safely
“And it’s you?” I laughed.
“Well, except you hired a driver I know nothing about, you have just me to take you home safely,” He paused. “Emphasis on safely.”
“Can I say something without you judging me?”
His eyebrow raised. “Depends but let’s hear it.”
“I think Tequila makes a person horny.”
He frowned and shook his head. “And that’s your sign that you’ve had too much to drink. Stand
“Just like that?” I asked him.
up
let’s get out of here.”
“Yes because I can’t even let you remain here when you already feel horny. You are vulnerable already.”
“You remind me of someone,” I told him. “Same setting, different stories but same possessive nature.” “Possessive?” he asked but I ignored him. He reminded me of Marcus–at the club where he showed his dominant nature by commanding me to get up and by taking me home.
Nate wasn’t much of that type of person and you could see it from how he said his words. “Melissa look, I could leave you here but there’s no fucking way you’d be thankful for that so let’s get you home.”
I laughed hard because a lot of things were going through my mind already and it was crazy how I let myself drink this much.
“Are you okay?” Nate asked when I wasn’t saying anything else.
“I told you already. I’m fucking horny.” I was saying it in such a casual way and unlike how flirtatious it usually came out around Marcus, it just felt like a piece of information being given to the FBI. “I’m ready, take me home.”
Nate gave a nod and led me to his car. I lowered myself in and he drove off, I didn’t get to experience the trip this time because I was sleepy so I just rested my head on the headrest and slept off.
The next time I was opening my eyes, I was in my apartment, on my bed and Nate was lacing his shoes.
“Hey,” I scoffed. “What are you doing?”
“Getting ready to leave,” he answered without looking up.
“You can stay back. A sleepover is-
“No,” he responded hastily. “That’s our boundary, Mels. No sleepovers.”
I frowned despite being dizzy and rolled my eyes at him. “Are you scared?” I wasn’t going to have sex with him anyway.

“Let’s just say I’m being cautious.”
