All the sentences I had in my head became a shadow of themselves before I could blurt them out. I couldn’t even see his face to know his reaction because of the light but his voice–hell they were just being the typical Mr Hills‘ voice.
“Siri, turn the lights back,” he said and the lights got changed into the normal light.
“You’re playing my favorite song and I’m kind of anxious to know how you got that.”
“My secret,” I blurted, regaining my confidence. I was about to pass out when he asked for an explanation but seeing his face now, just made my nerves calmer. “Also, I’m not always like this in people’s houses”
“Of course not. Not everyone will give you that access and let Sif recognize your voice.”
I frowned because that came out so bluntly and in a way that felt insulting. “You don’t have to worry though. I think I’ve studied you well enough to know what you’d fall for and what not.”
“Wait, what? You asked Thomas to grant me voice recognition access ‘cause you wanted to know what I’d say?”
It made a lot of sense even if It didn’t.
“I give the orders, remember?”
sniffed, holding back whatever it was that was about to run down.my nose. I wasn’t cold when I walked into this place but the temperature in here must be the reason I feel like I’m freezing or maybe it’s him.
“You should have done something about this,” he said and I realized he was talking about the goosebumps on my body.
“Yeah,” I replied hastily. “I was just captivated by the beauty of this place.”
“Hmm,” he responded.
I looked away and pouted. “Uh— Siri, you can turn off the music now.”
Marcus looked at me. “Why? Are you tired of trying to figure me out?”
I squeezed my brows because there was no way on earth this man could see through me. How did he know that was what I was trying to do? Wait the cameras, was he watching me ask about how many women he’s been fucking??
A flush of embarrassment coursed through me and I bit my inner mouth before looking at him.
“You know? I was just wondering how different everything seems to look. The house looks bigger, and I don’t know-”
“I’ll take it that you’re wondering if you’re in a different house. Hmm?

“Well, you are. This is my abode, the place I live.”
“But the house from the other night— you don’t live there?
“What other night?” he asked, acting oblivious to what I was talking about. I only swallowed hard, ignoring his pretense. “Are you shy to say the night we fucked?”
How is he able to say it so casually? I can’t even attempt to sound as bold as him when I’m not drunk or horny.

“Mr. Hills, I—” I paused to think of the sentence I was about to make.
He scoffed. “I own different houses and this happens to be where I live. I only stay there at times, not live there.”
“When you want to have sex with people? Is that the only time you go there?” I had no idea why I asked it that way, but a part of me needed to know since Siri was an ass who couldn’t give me that information.
“I take it that you’ve also seen that picture and you’ve wondered about it too.”
I followed his line of vision till I was looking at the portrait that hung on the wall. “Yeah, I’ve seen it. Ian has always had that big smile.”
He gave a nod. “Big smile, indeed.”
He looked at the picture for some seconds longer before he turned his attention back to me. “Make yourself as comfortable as you did earlier and I’ll just work out and get some rest.”
“Work out?” I asked without hiding the amusement in my voice. That’s uh–that’s cool”
He gave another nod. “Yeah, I can’t deal with the paparazzi always waiting for a chance to shove a mic down my throat.
I chuckled lightly and then took a deep breath at the thought of the gym. No, no Melissa— don’t do that.
I was already having a clear picture of what fulfilling my fantasy would look like. I’ve always written about it since I saw this movie where the lovers fucked in a gym while the guy was working out. It’s been stuck in my head since then and I just resort to writing about it since I can’t get it fulfilled but now that Marcus has a gym in his house, I—- Good lord.
“Marcus,” I said hastily before he could leave. “I uh–I forgot my bag at the office and I told Thomas to help me with it. Do you have any idea if he uh–if he did?”
“Yes.” I expected him to show me where to get the bag from but instead, he walked behind the couch, picked the bag up, and then handed it over to me.
I gave a quick nod and a small smile before blurting out a thank you. It’s Thomas I should be thanking but well, Marcus helped to pick it up so he should also get a share of the appreciation.
I took the bag from him and then opened the bag to make sure my things were intact. My eyes moved around looking at the gloss, the liner, some bucks, my debit card, and shit–my jotter. The same jotter where I write the most absurd things including my newest fantasy of getting fucked in a gym.
I swallowed hard, trying to get myself together before turning to Marcus. “Did you go through my bag?”
He didn’t react as expected–the whole defensive way a man does when he’s guilty of what’s being said so I paused and looked at him. “My bag. Did you search it? Did you maybe check out the things inside?”
He simply cocked an eyebrow. “No. Should I have done that?”
