Chapter 58
Marcus
Melissa stood me up.
I walked into my office and settled in, checking my emails and the other documents I had left unreviewed but still–a part of me was burning with rage.
I tried to get myself to focus on other things like the plans I have for my son and the opening of my new restaurant but a part of me still wondered what gave her the audacity.
No one has ever ignored me— I am the one who ignores women no matter their class or how sexy and good–looking they may be. I’m the one who chooses who to be with and it just hurt my ego that someone played my game on me.
It must suck for these women especially Maddie who has been consistently getting ignored in my books. Just as I clicked on the mouse and a notification popped, the office door swung open.
“Sir…” Nate Bisley calleds he walked inside. “You asked for me.
“I did.” I gestured to the seat. “Do have a seat.”
He collapsed on the chair… easily the most comfortable person in my company, not because I give him so much leverage but because that’s just who he is. His personality has him acting and not thinking of the repercussions even though sitting in my office this way has little or no repercussions.
“I remember asking you to come up with something for the new project,” I said not taking my eyes off the monitor.
“Oh yeah. I do have a plan.”
“Let me hear it.”
“I think we should focus more on targeting young professionals and we highlight the best features of this property.” He paused and brought out a small jotter from his jean jacket.
“I also have a theme in mind but my focus is on utilizing social media platforms to engage we have that, then everything else can fall in place.”
with our target audience. Once
“So how much are we looking at as the budget to be allocated for social media advertising and whatever you have?”
“I’ll have to do a rundown and get back to you with an accurate figure.”
“Of course.” Nate Bisley is one of the brightest employees here and I can’t deny it. He’s made his job as the head of the marketing team leave an imprint and I’ll have to give that to him but what I cannot however give to him is permission to look at Melissa the way he does.
For obvious reasons, I do not like the thought of any man looking at Melissa or even touching her hands as casually as he did at the graduation. I felt the urge to say a thing about it but Nate Bisley must not know I’ve developed a soft spot for Melissa Kane. Not him, not Paul, not Andra, and the rest of them.
Hell, no one except myself and her should know the burning desire I have for her.
“Don’t forget to track the campaign’s performance,” I told him and he gave a nod.
ll keep a close eye on the metrics and keep you updated on our progress.”
I hummed and reached for a file on the table. “Before I forget, I want you to join the team overseeing this project.”
Chapter 38
He picked up the brown envelope and after a few seconds, a furrow appeared on his forehead. “But his is meant to be for Jimmy
“Unfortunately, it is you I’m giving the order to. Go ahead, they leave in a few minutes.”
He stood up to leave and I felt a moment of satisfaction. This should answer Melissa’s question asking if I’m a sadist.
I wouldn’t say I am but I still wouldn’t say I’m not. He reached the door and I raised my head to catch him leaving. “Send in Miss Kane for me”
That was fucking petty but I knew he wouldn’t read any meaning to it but if Melissa was here, she’d know exactly what I’m doing and why.
I exhaled audibly and swiveled away before the door opened and Melissa walked in. She locked the door behind her and as if having a second character telling her what to do, she bolted the door.
“Tell me it was necessary to bolt the door,” I blurted when she walked in. “And not necessary to honor my invitation.”
“Mr Hills I couldn’t make it. I had other arrangements.”
“With Nate Bisley?” I asked not minding how that sounded. Her brows arched together. “No, Nate was only there at the ceremony.
I scoffed
“You already told me congratulations remember?”
I looked at her eyes and it had the exact lust boiling in mine, she was just trying to stifle hers and she was failing at it.
“Yeah right.”
“And you left me halfway knowing how much I wanted you inside me. Was it all just a game to you, huh?”
The way her eyes blinked and the way her glossed lips parted with each word was getting me so turned on. This is it, the woman I first met who wasn’t scared to say what she wanted.
She scoffed and then her hands went to her first button, her second button, and then the third which she opened.
“So what now?” she asked. “Make me feel like you’re about to fuck me? Scrap that. Make me feel like you’re about to finger fuck me on your desk and then what? Leave me halfway, panting and wondering what is even wrong with you?”
“You’ll have to keep your voice low if you want to have this conversation.”
“Or else what? You don’t what the rest of them to know you’re a sadistic fuck who wants me to beg you to get fucked?”
“No, I don’t want you bringing out the sadistic fuck who you won’t be able to handle.”
She took a step forward and closed the gap between us.
“You know what? I’m fed up. Give me what you have, Marcus, and let’s see if I can’t handle it.”
