Chapter 57
Melissa
I don’t need anyone to tell me but I know how much of a jerk Marcus Hills can be.
That man is so fucking arrogant and everything about him reek of it.
ミ
I walked out of the restroom with a welling anger in me. How the hell could he do that and think it is okay??
Who gets a woman wet and leaves her halfway? Obviously Marcus. I can’t even tell what he is up to or who he is.
This minute he wants me without a second thought and he’s having me and the next minute he makes it look like I’m the one who needs him.
Maybe I do. Sometimes anyway but that’s not the point. He makes me beg for him, beg to have him, and shit, it is exhausting to even think about how he could be making me feel all loved up and comfortable by calling me Melissa, and then in the blink of an eye, I’m Miss Kane.
“Melissa. Oh shit shit. What’s wrong? You look like you’re about to explode from – I don’t know.”
I inhaled and raised my brow at the figure standing in front of me..
Nate Bisley and I haven’t seen since Chloe traveled out mainly because he also got a leave to go see his family or something.
Look who the fuck we have here,” I finally blurted and exhaled.
I released my fist and then looked back at him, still frowning.
“This is in no way the way you welcome someone.”
“Welcome? Man, what are you even doing here? Or wait, I’ll rephrase. I never knew you have a sister schooling at NYU.”
“Quit the act Melissa. You know I’m here because of you.”
Good lord, I should also say something as a comeback but I can’t lie that it melted my heart. I couldn’t figure out what to say so I just looked at him and blurted the first word that came to my mind.
“Really?”
“Yeah really.” He handed me a bag next. “Congratulations, Melissa. I’m proud of you.”
A fucking Channel bag.
“Did you use up half of your salary to get me this?” I asked with my mouth wide open at the beautiful free bag. “And fuck, my favorite color is green. Did you know about it or is it just a beautiful coincidence?”
“Now I don’t which to answer first.”
I laughed at his response and a very wide and genuine smile followed. “Don’t worry, you can leave the questions for later.” “Anyway, I recen’e way more than you do. Shit, what do you take me for?”
I laughed again.
“But the whole idea was to get you something you’d love and Chloe helped me with the color thing. I could’ve just gotten you a black bag.”

“And I’d have loved that too.”

“Come here,” he said and without thinking twice I walked into his arms and allowed his hands to straddle on the. “You don’t ever show it but I know it’s been a lot and while there are thousands of people here today, I need you to be aware of the presence here just for you.”
“Isn’t that so sweet?” I asked still in his arms.
I stayed there for a few more seconds before I felt his arms taking the last strength in me.
“Well, that’s enough before I get strangled as another gift.”
“So unromantic,” he said before letting go of me.
I frowned and rolled my eyes at him. “Was I supposed to be romantic? And excuse me, to you Nate Bisley???”
“Melissa Kane, do you want to get some pictures, leave here, and spend the rest of your day not fighting me?”
“Depends on what the last sentence means. I don’t think we can coexist without fighting. It’s like the big bang theory.”
“Oh shit, Melissa.”
“Okay, sorry,” I snapped.
“Pictures then. I brought a camera to capture this moment for you.”
I don’t think I want to take pictures,” I told him. I can’t even remember the last time I took pictures. “It’s been a while since I’ve been in front of a camera,” I told him.
“Well, that’s enough reason to get more. You’re never reliving this moment again but you can, if you have the memory locked in a photograph.”
“You win,” I blurted and took a step back. I crossed my leg and bent slightly to the right, raising my hands to form the peace sign.
“Okay, just smile a little and–perfect. Another one.”
I smiled this time and he took another shot. This felt good, having someone take photographs of me.
“This last one has
you
looking like some rich woman who has got the bucks.”
“Is that an insult to who I am in reality?”
“Maybe.”
I laughed and tried to hit him but I paused when I recognized a burning eye staring at me.
Hasn’t Marcus done enough to call it a day? I watched him look at me with some form of hidden rage and I knew I was because of him- Nate Bisley.
Nate hadn’t noticed the Boss yet so he was still being all goofy and holding my hands.
I thought of it. If being with Nate was the reason Marcus had such a scowl on his face then jt wouldn’t hurt to make his scowl deepen.
“Ourgh there’s something on your face,” I told Nate even when there was no single thing on his face.
“Where?”

‘I got it” I closed my hands together, trying to see if Marcus saw that act.
“What was it?” Nate asked.
“Uh!”
“I asked what was on my face,” he reiterated.
“Ok, nothing. I mean- I took it off already.”
Just like I wanted, Marcus saw that and he walked away.
“You’re so strange,” Nate blurted.
I cocked an eyebrow. “Am I? Don’t answer that, I’ll just take note that being nice to Nate Bisley means I’m strange.”
My phone buzzed in my pocket do I reached for it. “Excuse me.
I increased the brightness and a lump formed in my throat when I saw it.
MARCUS: 9 pm tonight. Your wishes will be my command.
