Chapter 50

I raised my head knowing Marcus would want everyone to be attentive but his brows only arched for a second and he gave a nod.
“Thank you, Chris,” he told the head of the development team. certain some persons did not get your point clearly.”
I swallowed hard when his eyes met mine.
“Reiterate that, please.” He brushed the bridge of his nose and looked away from me but it took everything in me to not pass out from the tension.
When he looked at me, it felt like he could read what was going on in my mind, and not just that, it sure seemed like he was making a joke out of my situation.
Does he think I am feeling hurt because of his actions? That is the last thing I’d ever want so I sat up, ready to act like I had everything in control.
“Like I earlier said,” Chris began. “We’re stoked to update everyone on our ongoing real estate projects and possible opportunities in the market.”
“We’ve been hustling to identify new development prospects and assess their potential.”
Are there any of these developments that can be shared with the team?” Marcus asked him and he reached for a paper handed to him by Jimmy.
“Yes, sir.” He looked at the paper and then back at the rest of us. “The strategic plan for a real estate project focuses on three key areas: market analysis, financial projections, and risk management. We’ll conduct thorough market research to identify target demographics and assess demand.”
His voice was audible and piercing through everyone’s ears. “Our financial projections will outline estimated costs, revenues, – and return on investment. We’ll also develop a risk management strategy to mitigate potential challenges. By aligning these
elements, we aim to maximize profitability and ensure the success of the project.”
A round of applause followed and I just joined the crowd. I haven’t been deep in real estate to understand everything he just said but I know it has got to be a good plan to have everyone clapping this way.
Chuckles ring out throughout the room. I make the mistake of looking at my boss to find that he’s still wearing his signature scowl. I look away after that one glance.
I keep my eyes on Jimmy. How did I never notice he was this good–looking? Probably because of his sexuality and I’ve always thought he’s off–limit. It was one of the first things Chloe whispered to my ears when I resumed working here.
She talked about how hot his boyfriend is and how they’ve been dating since he was a teenager.
I’m so happy for him; for finding someone who sticks with him at all times and does not find the slightest opportunity to hurt him.
Thinking of Jimmy’s relationship made me remember Ian. It’s been a few weeks but I haven’t heard from him, asked of him, or even bothered to know what was up with him.
It’s not like I’m obligated to ask about him but a part of me just wants to know if he’s okay.
I deleted his number and unfollowed all his social media accounts so there’s pretty no way I can know what’s going on with
him.

Chapter 50
I’m sure Helena has found out already that we officially broke up and she must have ridden his dick one good time. Fresh out of a relationship but just maybe it wouldn’t be as good as when he was in a relationship.
“Any questions?” Marcus asked and I once again shifted my attention to him.
My team all shook their heads and I did the same. I wasn’t even stening so how on earth would I have a question?
I’d probably just talk to Jimmy later and see what I can plot out and use to create the Boss‘ schedule.
Marcus gave a nod at the response from the team members. “Yely well, you’re excused.”
We all stood up, some glad that it was over and others, sad that the meeting ended too soon. None of that mattered to me; I was just glad I could make it out of this meeting alive.
The door was turned open and as everyone moved closer to the exit door, Marcus turned to me. “Except you, Miss Kane. I’d like a word.”
My heart skipped as I heard him. My eyes narrowed and I gave a gentle nod. “Of course.”
I waited for the room toget empty and when the whole team left the room, I looked back at him.
What does he want to say?
Shit, I can’t even think straight.
I clean my sweaty palm against my skirt and hold my fingers to ease my nerves.
“Shut the door, Miss Kane.”
My brows arched.
“I do not like repeating myself,” he said motioning to the door. “Shut the door.”
A lump formed in my throat but I brushed it off and took calculated strides to the door. I pushed the door and locked it.
“I’ve shut the door.”
“Oh, I can see that,” he answered moving closer to me. My breathing pattern became unsteady and I reached for the long table and held the edge.
I needed support just in case my knee decided to fail. His face doesn’t show much but I recognise the look in his eyes. It’s the same look he had in his eyes when he came to my apartment and fucked me into comfort.
When he had my legs spread and whispered nothing in particular but tickled my earlobe with his hot tongue,
He stepped closer and I already knew what was coming next. It’s either a short kiss or a long one but I suspect a long one because the lust behind his eyes makes him look at my boobs.
I know he could tear off my clothes if he so wanted to but then when he stepped closer, he cleared his throat.
“Do you have an explanation as to why you looked lost throughout the meeting?”
My lips parted in disappointment. “I wasn’t lost,” I defended. “I have everything documented.”
“Good. Then get back to work and have them sent in as soon as possible.”
