Chapter 41
Melissa
We got into his car and I could tell he was still pissed. There was no damn reason for him to be mad but he was lan and that meant getting pissed whenever he sees a guy around me but he can fuck whoever he wants, including my best friend.
Suddenly, I felt more pissed about his affair with Helena than I’ve ever been.
“And why the hell didn’t you tell me?”
My scowl deepened. “Tell you? About what exactly?”
“That you needed to go grocery shopping. Hell, Melissa. When did you start going shopping alone?”
Was that really his anger or he was just trying to make it look like he didn’t just act like a control freak?
“Melissa..”
“Fucking hell,” I scoffed. I tried to be calm though, I didn’t want lan acting all foolish and end up cashing the car or driving into another vehicle. Accidents already scare me enough.
“I need you to answer me!”
“Ian just drive. You are going to get us killed if you keep doing this.”
“Really?” he scoffed and stopped the car. “Now can you answer me?”
“What the hell is wrong with you?” I asked instead. I was trying hard to be calm but his irritating attitude was already getting me fucking pissed. “What really is your problem? That I went shopping without you or that you saw a man standing with me??”
I watched him gulp hard before slamming the accelerator and moving again. It didn’t take long before we got to my place and I didn’t bother to say any more word before I climbed out and slammed the door.
I opened the back door and got my bags out of the car.
“Melissa we have to talk.”
“I don’t have anything to say to you!” I yelled without turning back. I used the stairs cause he was right behind me and I didn’t want to risk being stuck in the elevator with him.
When I got to the door, I strutted the keys and pushed the door open. I walked in and the door did not close behind me cause Ian blocked the door and walked in.
“Melisa,” he called. “You and I know you should not be the one feigning annoyance now.”
I turned to him. “Can you even hear yourself?” I asked and raised my hands in exasperation. “So who has the right to be pissed huh? You?”
“You are overreacting.”
“No, don’t even tell me that. You want to talk huh? Let’s talk.”
There was so much anger welling in me at that point and the fact he was still talking and standing his ground was making everything worse.
“I was only trying to protect you.”

“From what??” I asked. “Frog a harmless colleague who has never laid a finger at me or raised his voice like you’re doing now?”
“You know I didn’t mean to. Fine, I’ll stay behind, and we”
“Are you fucking crazy? I don’t want you anywhere near me.” I slammed trying to get him to leave. “You’re a fucking psychopath and you’re as manipulative as the devil himself.”
“Watch our fucking mouth!” lan warned yanking my arm.
I struggled against his hold and he stumbled backward. “Or what” I asked him. “What could be worse than what you’ve already done?”
“I didn’t do shit.”
“Of course you didn’t, you manipulative bastard. You get all jealous and pissed seeing anyone around me but what do you call fucking my best friend???”
He didn’t say a word. He looked too stunned to even say a word.
“Of course, that’s nothing too. Now imagine how I’ve felt knowing you’ve been having an affair with Helena. Of all people Ian. Of all fucking people, you chose Helena!!”
My voice failed me, my strength too, and before I knew what was happening I was in tears. This is a fucking outburst; one that was due but I haven’t had in a long while.
“Mels-”
“So I’m Mels now??” I asked and stepped back, wiping my tears. It’s been long overdue but I’m glad I get to put you in your place now. I regret knowing you Ian and this??? This fucking relationship where you’ve been nothing but a cheat???? It’s over.”
“Melissa you can’t do this.”
“But I already did and now I need you to get the fuck out of my house!!” The veins on Ian’s face came popping and I knew what that meant so I stepped back. The last thing I needed was for lan to get all violent in my place and start searching for things to break.
He never raised a finger on me but he had a problem with anger management which meant something had to get broken for him to feel better. He needed to transfer his aggression somewhere else and not on me or in my house.
“Leave,” I told him. “You’ve caused enough damage already and I can’t stand any more damage from you. Ian, leave now or I’ll call the cops.”
I expected him to react to that but he didn’t. Instead, he threw his hands in the air and stepped back. “Mels, I’m never going to hurt you.”
“Prove that and leave.”
“But I need to explain this to you. I haven’t been—”
I frowned. “Don’t even dare do that. Just go— just leave!!” When I saw how reluctant he was, I reached for my phone in my pocket.
“I’m not going to warn you again. I’d call the cops right now and report a threat to my life.”
“Fine,” he scoffed. “I’ll leave If that’s what you want.” He gave a small nod before moving back till he was right at the door. The moment the door slammed behind him, I fell to the floor. Sticking my face between my hands, I let out all the pain.
I didn’t want this… Ian used to be my perfect person but that has changed and now I have a broken heart with no emotional
